Static Trapeze Workshops

What is a Static Trapeze Workshop?

Each workshop is a 6-8 week course focusing on static trapeze and consisting of one 2-hour class per week. The classes meet on a regularly scheduled day and time (e.g., every Friday from 6-8pm). We do our best to ensure that the same instructors are present throughout the workshop. Each class will have 4 students (no more, no less).

> See below for our current schedule.

The workshops will cover basic static trapeze positions. They will also focus on conditioning while improving the individual student's static trapeze skills. During the first class, we will develop a curriculum specifically tailored to each student's skill level and needs (e.g. increasing core strength, developing better flexibility, learning how to do a lever).

Course Materials Provided by TSNY

(1) Tracking/Monitoring Tools
(2) Strengthening Exercises

Workshop Structure

Week 1: Develop individual student course curriculum
Weeks 2 ñ 3: Students and instructors work together to achieve initial goals
Week 4: Re-evaluate goals and re-set curriculum where necessary (upwards or downwards)
Weeks 5 - 8: Focus on achieving revised goals

What to Wear

Clothing should be snug fitting and elastic but very comfortable and easy move around in. We suggest long tights, running tights, or dance tights paired with a snug top. No loose-fitting clothing, which is a hindrance on the apparatus, and no shorts, which don't protect your skin.

Reservations, Refunds & Cancellations

Reservations are first-come, first-served. The entire workshop fee must be paid in advance.

If for any reason there are less than 4 students registered for a workshop, TSNY reserves the right to cancel the scheduled workshop.

If TSNY cancels a workshop, registrants will receive a refund. All other reservations are nonrefundable.

The 72-hour cancellation/refund policy for regular classes does not apply to these workshops.

What is Static Trapeze?

Static trapeze is a single trapeze on which one or two people perform a series of positions, wraps and tricks that create a fluid, dance-like aerial performance. The static trapeze is in a fixed position; the trapeze artist doesn't swing or fly to a catcher. So unlike the flying trapeze, static trapeze uses strength, grace and flexibility rather than timing and momentum.
